Homecoming

What is Homecoming?

Homecoming is a very important campus tradition in American high schools (and universities), usually held in the fall (September to October). It’s not only a grand festival for students, but also an event for alumni to return to their alma mater to celebrate.

Origin and Significance of Homecoming

Homecoming originated in the early 1900s at American universities such as the University of Missouri and the University of Illinois. It began as a way to welcome alumni back to campus for the fall football game and to celebrate school pride and tradition. Over time, this event spread to high schools across the United States, becoming one of the most beloved parts of American school culture.
